He was born in Albany, NY on August 24, 1926, the son of Fredrick and Vera (Ostrander) Holliday.
Doc served his country as a ship cook in the US Navy before becoming employed as an electrician for the D&H Railroad in Oneonta where he retired after many years.
An avid NY Yankees Fan, Doc enjoyed watching the team play and gathering and displaying memorabilia. He also enjoyed bird watching, especially cardinals, was an animal lover, and spent many hours tinkering and contemplating in his workshop. Collecting D&H engines and model trains reminded him of his time spent on the railroad.
Doc is survived by his long time partner, Catherine Howard; his children, Daryl and Phyllis Holliday, Donna and Steve Pieper, Dyann Prior (Vince), Lance and Kelly Holliday, Melissa and Joe Roe, and Leisha and Gus Koncher; a step daughter, Kelly Morse; 12 grandchildren, Daryl Jr, Vanessa, Carley, Zachery, Corey, Jessica, Adam, Jacob, Dalton, Lizette, Keenan, and Ian; 2 step grandchildren, Frank and Doug; 14 great grandchildren; 3 great, great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents; his brother Therron; and a grandson, Corey Pieper.
