He was born on May 18, 1936, in Franklinville, the son of Albert and Ruth (Chase) Marsh. He married Marie Harquail on April 20, 1960, in Dalhousie, NB.
Serving his country in the Air Force, Chip was honorably discharged in 1959. He joined UPS as the first driver in western NY, becoming a highly respected center manager.
A community-minded individual, Chip was active in the Boy Scouts of America, serving as a Scout Leader, Unit Commissioner, and Charter Organization Representative. He was an active Rotary International member, serving as Club President and a Paul Harris Fellow. Chip was a Village of Franklin Trustee and a member of the Franklin Recreational Committee.
An avid golfer, Chip had 2 verified holes-in-one and rated slopes for the USGA. He loved dancing. Chip learned to ski with his kids and proudly skied with his grandkids. Affectionately known as a “Chip of all trades,” he always had a project he was working on.
He is survived by his loving wife Marie; 4 children, Eric (Mary) Marsh, Gina (Bill) Witzleben, Lisa (Mark) Caron, and Thad Marsh; 10 grandchildren; and siblings Norman, Liz Schuyler, Brenda Rivetti, and Hope Phillips.
He was predeceased by his parents and siblings Dean Marsh and Bert Cherry.
A Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 23, 2022, at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Church, 15 Liberty St, Sidney.
