Scotty Lee Clark was born on June 13, 1957, to Elizabeth (Fredin) and Lyal Clark Jr. in Spencer, Iowa, and passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 16th, 2021 in Carter Lake Iowa. In 1960, the family purchased their new home on Avenue "O" in Carter Lake. Scotty attended & participated in Baseball & track @ Carter Lake Elementary, Woodrow Wilson, Thomas Jefferson, and Iowa Western Community College. He made the Carter Lake Midget team @ the age of 11. Was Captain and Co-Captain of the TJ Yellow Jackets for two years that many news outlets called the best team in the state He set records at TJ that lasted for 20 years He won a Bronze Medal in the National Junior Olympics He played baseball for the Council Bluff Rainbows All-Star Team. He was very involved in the Boy Scouts of America.
He later married and had 3 children, Melissa Clark, Scotty Clark Jr & Crystal McPeck. He was very involved in their lives by coaching youth sports teams & being active in the community for many years.
After being a single parent for over a decade, he met & married Michelle Salerno. They became a blended family of 7, adding Jess Jackson and Jenny O'Banion. This marriage grew to include 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Michelle & Scott celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on July 6th, 2021.
Throughout the years Scotty worked as a bartender at the Carter Lake Improvement Club, served as a Board Member, on several committees, and was a Gold dart league team member.
His last employment was at Medics at Home for 14 years as a Wheelchair Van Driver. He loved working with the clients & He took pride in keeping the cleanest van in the fleet.
Lastly, we would like to reveal the true story of how Scotty lost his finger. He was picking his nose, while driving the boat, during Covid, fishing with his grandchildren, in a snowstorm, when suddenly a bald eagle swooped down from the sky & bit it off. True story! Just ask any of the grandkids!
