It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Swinarski, Jr. who died on 12/10/2024. Mick was a beloved spouse, father, friend, and colleague whose life was filled with a deep love for his family and his interests.
Born in 1964 in Omaha, Mick spent his life inspired by the worlds of superheroes, science fiction, and games. As a child, he developed a fascination with comic books and the heroes who lived in them, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life. He believed in the power of imagination, and in his own way, he lived out the values of the superheroes he admired—kindness, responsibility, and standing up for what is right. His love for sci-fi and games provided him with endless hours of enjoyment, but more than that, they sparked his curiosity and deep sense of wonder about the world and beyond.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Mick had a long and fulfilling career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. For 31 years, he contributed to the well-being of his community and country. His career was not just a job, but a calling. Though his work was often behind the scenes, he took great pride in the difference it made for others.
Mick was a kind and loyal friend, always ready with a listening ear or a good-natured joke. He will be missed deeply by all who knew him.
Mick is survived by his wife Cindy, his three children, Kate (Derek), Mike, and Pat, his sister Cindy (Brian), nieces Stephanie (Nate) and Jessica, great-nieces and great-nephew, and many cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret, and father Michael Sr.
A celebration of Mick's life will be held on Saturday, December 14th, 2024 at Westlawn Hillcrest with the family receiving at 10 am, and a service at 11 am, followed by lunch.
