Jim Williams, also affectionately known as ‘Willie,’ entered into rest October 30, 2023, while at the VA Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 79 years old.
Jim was born and graduated high school from Mishawaka, Indiana. He then served in the United States Air Force where he was transferred to Bellevue, NE and met his wife to be Roberta. They were married in November of 1968 and had 2 daughters, Anne Marie and Laura.
Jim retired from Union Pacific Railroad and enjoyed volunteering for several groups including Sts. Peter and Paul Church, student mentor program, Meals on Wheels, and the VA.
Jim and Roberta enjoyed many activities such as volleyball, bowling, softball, golf, coaching and traveling. Jim selflessly yielded his activities to support his girl’s busy schedule.
Raising his whole family was his pride and joy, full of vacations to Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, and Mahoney State Park. As well as spending weekends at the family cabin, playing cards, fall picnics, and countless hours of driving, supporting, playing catch and attending all his girl’s activities. He did find some time to cheer on Notre Dame when he had the chance.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother Marie Williams; father Troy Williams; brother Joe Williams; sisters Linda Pickard, Therese Williams and Cindy Williams; sons-in-law Mark Pletka and Jerry Andersen.
Survived by wife Roberta; daughters Anne Marie Williams and Laura Andersen; granddaughters Chloe Andersen, Hannah Andersen, Melanie Andersen, Sarah Andersen and Riley Pletka; brothers Tom Williams (Sharon), Dave Williams, Mike Williams (Terri); sister Diane Moran (John); countless family and friends.
A visitation for Jim will be held Monday, November 6, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106. A rosary will occur Monday, November 6, 2023 at 7:00 PM, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 5912 S 36th St., Omaha, Nebraska.
