Homer T. Smith of Middleburg, Florida but long time Omaha resident passed away peacefully in his sleep 10 days before his 86th birthday after a bout with COVID that caused severe progression of his dementia. He was the last of 4 living children from Mary Taggs Smith and Tony Deloss Smith and born in Warrensburg, Missouri.
Survivors include his wife Elaine of 43 years, children Kevin, Philip (Mari), Troy and Roberta Moore (Jeff) and grandchildren Jennifer (Carlos) Beltran, Rachel (Noah) Summerland, Charissa Smith, Amanda (Josh) Austin, Christopher Austin, Ashley (Brandon) McNew, Sarah Hallgren as well as many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, siblings Carley, Calvin and Emma Lyman, niece Brenda Willoughby and granddaughter Haylee Rogers.
Homer was proud to work at Union Pacific Railroad for 44 ½ years where he had many friends.
Services will take place at Westlawn-Hillcrest, 5701 Center St., Omaha, Nebraska on Friday, 11/10/2023. Visitation at 10:30 AM, Funeral at 12:30 PM with immediate procession to the grave site. Food will be provided at 11:30 AM.
