Gary was born May 20, 1944, the 2nd of 2 children to William and Jessie (LiVecchi) Reese. He was raised on Grand Island, NY 10 miles NW of Buffalo, NY. After graduating in 1964 he took a job with Western Electric. In 1976, the plant shut-down and Gary was transferred to Omaha NE where they started their new life. Gary was quoted to say “it was the best move that could have happened, and the friendships that were built with other families was priceless!” He worked for Western Electric up until he retired in 2001.
Gary always made it a point to visit his family back in New York once or twice a year, and when his sons moved he would visit Kansas City and Denver 2-3 times a year. When Gary wasn’t traveling to see family, he and Adrienne would travel and see the USA and most of the Caribbean. Gary & Adrienne made a point to visit all 50 states. Gary loved to bowl, play golf & horseshoes, hang-out with his buddies, and buy cars. Gary also loved to sing, and for several years that he sang in a choir that would travel to nursing homes.
Gary’s passion in life was his family first. Gary met Adrienne in 1964, married her in June of 1965, celebrating 55 years of marriage. Gary always told us he couldn’t imagine life without her. Gary loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Gary was always proud of the kids and supported their decisions in life. Most importantly, Gary was proud of all their accomplishments and when they hit bumps in the road, he would always be there for them to talk too and support them. In Gary’s later years while battling many health issues, he always made it a point to attend his grandchildren’s school functions, sporting events, and anything else that was important to his children’s families.
Lastly, Gary loved to get a laugh and make people smile! Gary will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
