Evelyn had five siblings, plus twin brothers who died in infancy. She and her family moved around a lot due to tough times. Despite a tumultuous upbringing, Evelyn was the first of her family to graduate from high school. She later attended trade school and received a certification in cosmetology. Evelyn later opened a small beauty shop in Verdigre, NE.
Evelyn met her husband, Eugene, on a blind date set up by a mutual friend. They married each other in Norfolk, NE on July 10, 1954 and were blessed with 47 years of wonderful marriage and 10 children. After Eugene’s death in 2002, Evelyn became the matriarch of her family.
Evelyn was active in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an excellent role model for her family and sustained the patience and energy to keep up with everyone.
Evelyn enjoyed going to church, participating in the Catholic Daughters, and playing cards and word puzzles. She was also an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary League and was an EME at Mary Our Queen Catholic Church. After many years of being a stay at home mom, Evelyn worked in the X-ray department at Clarkson Hospital and later did clerical work for the Douglas County Treasurer's Office before she retired.
On Christmas Day 2023, Evelyn was reunited with Eugene, just 3 months after celebrating her 90th birthday with her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
