Darlene Jean Coufal was born to Jack and Margaret (Jordan) Wright in Omaha, Nebraska, on May 28th, 1934. She joined the Lord on January 10th, 2024, aged 89. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Al Coufal. Darlene loved and missed Al every day since his passing in 2011. Darlene was an only child and had no children. She is survived by friends and extended family.
Darlene, known to all as "Dar," had many passions in life, that included Nebraska Football, enjoying travel with Al, and commitment to the Church. Until she could no longer safely travel safely to Mass, she was a regular parishioner at St John Vianney Catholic Church in Omana. Dar was a regular at the Millard American Legion, and she spoke of it regularly. She loved to entertain, and hosted many gatherings at her home, especially for Nebraska Football games! She was always smiling and was "the life of the party!"
Dar graduated from St John's High School in Omaha, then went to work with her mother at Brandeis Department Store. She was later hired by Omaha Public Power District, where she retired after serving as Executive Secretary to a Vice President.
Dar will be missed by many...
A memorial service will be held for Dar on Tuesday, January 16 at 1 pm at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home 5701 Center St. Omaha, NE 68106.
