Age 87, loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt; of Johnston, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. She was well known to many as “Grandma Bert”. Bert, passed away peacefully and is now reunited with her loving husband Jim. She is preceded by death by her beloved Husband James L. Pike, her Mother Cleda Alborn Benson, Father Arthur Alborn, Stepfather Bob Benson, Brother Dennis Alborn, Sister-In-Law Virginia Alborn, Niece Danny Alborn. Survived by Children; Melodie (Nemo) Ryan and Jamie (Mary) Pike. Grandchildren; Andy (Camille) Ryan, Jake Ryan, Alli Pike (Randall Gruber), Carli Pike (Alvaro Nunez). Great Grandchild Alannah Ryan. Brother Alan (Emiko) Alborn, Nieces Krista Alborn, Dawn (Ron) Kastner, Djuna Kauffman, Amy Mueske, Dianna Kendall. Bert was a very loving and special Grandma to her own Grandchildren as well as many of the Neighborhood Children and Children at the St Bernards Day Care in Omaha. Being there with all the kids was Bert’s Sanctuary for many years.
Many of the kids Bert cared for kept in contact with her as she left a positive impact on all of their lives.
Her Omaha and Johnston Neighbors adored her too. She will be missed by so many! Visitation at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home; April 18th at 9:30am – 11:00am. Funeral Service at 11:00 am
