Mr. William Eugene Lusby Sr., 74, of Nesbit, MS, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2010. Mr. Lusby was born on December 28, 1936 in Wren, MS and was the late son of Howard and Dudley Lusby. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business from Mississippi State University in 1959. After 36 years, he retired as a buyer-merchandiser manager with Super D Drugs Corp. in Memphis, Tn. Mr. Lusby was a member of the Memphis Amateur Sports Hall of Fame and coached men's fast-pitch softball for fifty years. He won one national championship along with four 2nd place finishes and never had a losing season. He was most proud of the fact that at one time or another his three sons played on his softball team. He was also very proud of his only daughter and her family. He was married for 52 years to his high school sweetheart, Eleanor Faye Lusby. He is survived by his wife, Faye Lusby of Nesbitt, Ms, his daughter, Valorie Mitchell of Senatobia, MS(her husband Gregg), his son Bill Lusby of Alpharetta, Georgia(his wife Laurie), his son David Lusby of Olive Branch, MS(his wife Anna), and his late son Michael Lusby of Marietta, GA. He is also survived by one granddaughter and six grandsons. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, and funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch, MS. In lieu of flowers, the family request any memorials be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
