Una Orafine Vanderburg, 85, passed away at her home in Olive Branch, MS on April 29, 2018. She was preceded in death by her mother, Julia Rivers Ashlock Funderburk, and her eldest daughter, Valinda Orafine Childress. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Howard Sidney Vanderburg; two sons, Neville (Cathy) and Jonathan Vanderburg (Renee); a daughter, Julia Clay Randolph (Zach); 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; one sister, Julia Rivers Birmingham and her nephew, Anthony Norwood Birmingham. Family will receive guests on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 pm at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS 38654. She was a 1950 graduate of Olive Branch High School, attended Mississippi State College for Women, and after marrying her high school sweetheart in 1952 dedicated her life to her family. She entered the workforce later in life, working for Formby’s Refinishing and Holiday Inn’s Inc., before going to work for the City of Olive Branch where she eventually retired. She had many hobbies, and interests, among them reading, art, playing bridge with friends, collecting a wide variety of decorative figurines, decorating her home, and spending time with her family. She had a deep and abiding faith in the Lord and was loved dearly by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers the family requests any memorials be given to Methodist Children’s Homes of Mississippi, The National Kidney Foundation, First & St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Clarksdale, MS or Maples Memorial United Methodist Church in Olive Branch.
