Oliver Dow Thompson Sr.

Oliver Dow Thompson, Sr., 96, of Memphis, TN went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. He was born on September 14, 1925 to the Late Wren and Donnie Thompson in DeSoto County, MS. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his loving wife of 74 years, Edna Lillian Byars Thompson; his parents, and his brother, Dudley Thompson. He is survived by three children, Oliver D. Thompson, Jr. (Betty), Sylvia Webster (Marty), and Randy Thompson. Mr. Thompson attended Mississippi School for the deaf when he was younger where he met his wife. He was a member of the Baptist deaf congregation of Memphis that began at First Baptist Church and now attends Kirby Woods Baptist Church. Many called Mr. Thompson a historian. He enjoyed family genealogy and researching. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 10:00 am with visitation beginning at 9:00 am. Interment will follow at Emory Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the deaf ministry at Kirby Woods Baptist Church.
