Gary Lee Dixon, 89, of Olive Branch, MS went to be with the Lord on December 22, 2024. Mr. Dixon was born on January 31, 1935 in Sunflower, MS to the late Lee Mathis Dixon and Elizabeth Louise Burney Dixon. He is a 1953 graduate of Coffeeville High School where he played basketball. He played for the state championship while in high school. Mr. Dixon worked in the lumber industry for many years. He was part owner of Curtner Dixon Lumber Company. He also served as president of the Lumberman’s Club for a few years. In his younger years, he enjoyed quail hunting and coaching his son’s baseball teams. He loved watching sports especially the Ole Miss Rebels and Dallas Cowboys. In his later years, he enjoyed playing golf and traveling. Mr. Dixon was a believer in Jesus Christ and a member of First Baptist Church of Olive Branch. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Ann Wright Dixon; his second wife, Marilyn Hathorn Dixon; brother, Billy Earl Dixon; brother, Oda David Dixon; and his sister, Sandra Louis Dixon. He is survived by his son, Gregg Dixon; grandchildren, Trent Dixon (Savannah) and Kyle Dixon (Sarah); and great-grandchildren, Ella Claire Dixon and Mary Hendrix Dixon. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Sunday, December 29, 2024 from 1:00 until 2:00 with a funeral service to begin at 2:00. Mr. Dixon will be buried at Shiloh Cemetery in Big Creek, MS.
