Chance Sharif McClain, at 28, passed due to complications, after an immensely courageous fight to recover from a severe TBI. That of which he sustained at the hands of another driver following a broadside collision, in June of 2023, on Fathers Day. He will be joining his beloved grandparents, Faye and J.D. Burrus, who preceded him in journeying beyond the veil.
Chance was born on February 28th, 1996; and he lived on his own terms with a larger than life personality. He was an extremely brave and kind soul who loved helping others. Although quietly humble he was an extremely intelligent and talented person, who enjoyed deep philosophical conversations with others. He loved reading and writing poetry as well as creating wonderful sketches. He doted on his daughter Patience, the light of his life with whom he cherished every moment, who survives him.
He lives on in the hearts and memories of his surviving family; his parents, Darius & Callista Toliver; siblings, Kaelyn, Dariana, and Samuel Toliver, Kielle and Jalen Worley and Olivia McClain; his wife Rachel McClain; and parents (in-law) John & Lisa Van Dyke; brother (in-law) Samuel Van Dyke. In addition to numerous personal and family friends.
Chance would have quoted “Do not weep for those who have found Death's embrace early, for they weep for us that linger on in this mortal world of pain.” As it would have hurt him to see those he loved filled with sadness at his absence.
His memorial service date to be held at Brantley Funeral home in Olive Branch, Ms followed by a hosted reception at the home will be announced by his family.
