He was born on December 29, 1920 in Water Valley to the Late Benson George and Hattie Barlow Wright. A.M. enlisted in the United States Army on August 7, 1942.
He served his country in WWII with the 32D T C SQ 314th T C CP as a Staff Sergeant. A.M was awarded the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Unit Citation with one Oak Leaf Cluster.
He was a member of Maples United Methodist Church for over 30 years. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Wilma Wright; a daughter in law, Brenda F. Wright, and his brother, James Wright. A.M. is survived by his son, David Wright, Sr. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Alan Wright (Kelsey), Tyler Wright (Lindsey) and three great grandchildren, Paxton Wright, Harper Wright, and James Wright.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021 at 10:00 am with visitation beginning at 9:00 am at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS 38654. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Southwoods.
