Bradley - Myrna Jane (Inman) Watkins, 83, passed away on January 19, 2024, after a brief illness surround by her beloved family. She was born on March 28, 1940, in Franklin, Maine, to William and Ona (Shorey) Inman. She graduated from Old Town High School in 1958 and Husson College in 1962. She met the love of her life, Horace 'Bud' Watkins when he was in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Bangor, Maine, and they were married in 1965. Throughout her adult life, Myrna worked as the church secretary and at other positions as a highly skilled administrative assistant. At the time of her retirement, she was the executive assistant to Irving Kagan, the CEO of the Penobscot Shoe Company. In addition, she served in multiple volunteer capacities, most notably for 15 years at the Eastern Maine Medical Center. She also opened her home to foreign students and taught many adults to read. Myrna also enjoyed sewing, gardening, crocheting, knitting, ceramics, reading and baking. She had a sweet spirit and loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
Myrna is survived by her beloved husband, Bud; two daughters she was very proud of, Merijane Bureau of Bradley and Vicki Heath of North Carolina; grandchildren, DJ Cox, Leo Spinney, and Adam, Alex, Abby and Connor Verrill; eight great grandchildren; her brothers, William Inman, Kerry Inman, Kenneth Jenkins, Tommy Jenkins, and the late Floyd Inman. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins, and her special furry friends Sadie, Bella, and Little Kat, of Bradley, Maine.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a celebration of life service at United Baptist Church in Old Town, Maine, at 2 p.m.; Tuesday, January 23, 2024, light refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Literacy Volunteers of Bangor in her memory.
