Old Town - On Sunday, December 4, 2022, Michelle Joan (Woodyard) Flaherty, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep at her home in Old Town, ME, at the age of 55. Michelle was born May 10, 1967, in Colorado Springs, CO, born to and survived by parents L. Wayne Woodyard and Claudia Swenson. Michelle is also survived by parents Clyde and Elizabeth Flaherty, who were greatly influential in her life and considered her the daughter they never had and always wanted.
Michelle graduated from Caribou High School and married her High School sweetheart, Brian Flaherty, in 1985 remaining married for her lifetime. While they had no children, she was a loving aunt, whose wisdom was cherished by her nieces and nephews.
Michelle is survived by siblings, Chantal M. Woodyard, Dave Emmons, Jennifer Evers, Brandy Moberg, Molly McClish, Olivia Maier, Kathryn Kowal and Lindy Griffith.
Michelle was a spirited, adventurous soul, widely known as “Alice the Madd Hatter”, co-host of the “Head Rush” show on WERU Community Radio in Orland, ME and performing member of the local rock band “The Boneyard Gardeners”. Alice was a flamboyant presence and always lit up the room with her costumes and antics. Michelle loved animals and rescued countless dogs, cats, and exotic birds over the years. Michelle was an ordained reverend of The Universal Life Church, healer and spiritual advisor. She was a prolific metaphysical writer under the name Cassandra Ravenspell and was an expert fortune teller, rune caster and tarot reader. She will be remembered fondly by a lifetime of family and friends. Her spirit will always be a guiding inspiration for the many lives she’s touched. Blessed Be.
There will not be a formal service. Rather, a Celebration of Life event is being planned for Sunday February 26th at a location TBD to allow out-of-state family members to complete their holiday plans and still attend.
