OLD TOWN - Joseline “Jo” Mary LeBlanc, 97, beloved wife of the late Francis J. LeBlanc, passed away peacefully March 12, 2020 at a Bangor assited living facility. She was born February 6, 1923, in Old Town, the daughter of the late Ambrose and Euphimie ( Boudreau) Dupuis. She graduated from Old Town High School with the class of 1942. She and Francis shared a devoted and loving marriage spanning 58 years prior to his passing. They were lifelong communicants of St. Joseph Catholic Church now known as the Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord.
Jo’s working career spanned 42 years working first in a local retail store followed by a decade with the former Jordan Casket Company in Old Town. Jo and Francis then operated their small grocery store on Brunswick St. for 16 years before closing the store and both taking employment with the University of Maine in Orono. Jo retired in 1983 after 13 years of dedicated service with the U of M press.
Jo was completely devoted to her faith and her church. She will always be remembered for her sincere goodness, kindness, and her sweetness. She would always greet you with a loving hug and would extend the same when saying “bye for now”. When saying to her “I love you Jo”, her response was always “I love you more”. Jo was a social butterfly and was most happy when surrounded by family and friends. She was a caring, giving person who was family centered.
She enjoyed and was very skilled in sewing, knitting and quilting, and will be remembered as a wonderful cook. Through the years Jo and Francis took great pride in their home and were a compliment to each other in their arts and crafts. They enjoyed many years of lovingly entertaining family, friends and neighbors at their camp on the ledge at Pushaw Lake. They offered the camp as a special place for togetherness, love for all, and of course endless laughter while playing cards and games.
She is survived and will be sadly missed by her only remaining sibling, Julliette Paradis, and her sister-in-law Lois Dupuis. As she and Francis were loving and active role models to many nieces and nephews, she will be forever remembered by all of them and their families, as well as her many dear cousins, friends and acquaintances.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Mary Collins Spinney and Delima Parady; her brothers Lionel Dupuis, Edgar Dupuis and Romeo Dupuis; her nephew Jeffrey Dupuis; her sisters-in-law Alice Dupuis, Estelle Dupuis, Antoinette Dupuis, and Lorraine LeBlanc; her brothers-in-law Eudore Collins, Rudolph Parady, Leo Thibadeau, Larry Spinney, and Maynard Paradis; and her father and mother-in law Arthur and Hilda (Roy) Leblanc.
The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the entire staff at the Sylvia Ross Home in Bangor, Dr. Heather Evans and her staff, as well as the St. Josephs Hospice Care Unit and hospital doctors and attending nurses and staff for their unfailing love and care during Jo’s final years.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord Food Pantry 429 Main St Old Town, ME 04468
