Bradley - Jeffrey P. Nichols, 59, passed away at his home with his family by his side on January 28, 2018, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Bangor on August 18, 1958, the son of Irvin and Clarice (Morse) Nichols.
Jeff graduated from Bangor schools, class of 1976. He worked in the kitchen at Paul's Speakeasy at a young age, and continued working as a chef after his graduation from high school. He was a chef for St. Joseph's Hospital, Meals for Me, Acadia Hospital, and most recently, as the Executive Chef at the Sylvia Ross Home.
Jeff had a passion for finding a bargain. He loved going to auctions and purchasing the deal of the day in order to give it away to his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and boating at the family camp on Boyd Lake, and he loved his dogs, Mabel and Alice. Jeff was very proud of his family, and was especially proud to be a grandfather to four grandchildren. The family trips to Freeport and New Hampshire were some of his favorite times.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary (Curran) Nichols; children, Cassandra Nichols and partner, Chad Shields, of Milford, William Nichols and wife, Rachel, of Orono; grandchildren, Lilith, Spencer, Audrey and Liam; sister, Gayle O'Connell and husband, Kevin, of Brewer, and daughter, Samantha Ballesteros; sister, Laurie Kelly and husband, Thomas, of Holden, and daughter, Michelle Lawrence and partner, Ken Garcia, of Fort Myers, FL; as well as a special friend, Michelle Hogan, and the entire Curran Clan. In addition to his parents, Irvin and Clarice Nichols, Jeff was predeceased by his sister, Pamela.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 2, 2018, at Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Catholic Church. A reception will follow the service in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Jeff's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island #300, Topsham, ME 04086.
