Bangor – Helen Avery, 95, went peacefully to be with the Lord on January 6, 2024 at Northern Light Eastern Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Old Town on March 2, 1928, the daughter of Clifford and Edith (Drake) McLaughlin, who predeceased her. Helen was a former employee at Lily Tulip Corporation in Old Town. She loved playing bingo and doing crafts at Phillips-Strickland House, her home. She made many loving friends there and loved them all. She also loved her game days playing Skipbo with her family.
She is survived by five children, Peewee Avery and his wife Wanda of Milford, Wayne Avery and his wife Christine of Stetson, Roxanne LeRose and her husband Bill of Orrington, Karen Rossbach and her husband Ken of Dedham and Roger Avery and his wife Patti of Milford; she is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Robert Avery; her granddaughter, Erica Avery; her brothers, Walter McLaughlin, George McLaughlin, Paul McLaughlin, and Buster (Fred) McLaughlin; her sisters, Mae Wickett, Pearl Wade and Phyllis Sharp.
