Francis Dennis Oakes Sr.

Franny was a graduate of Old Town High School class of 1958, where he was class president, and excelled at basketball and track. He was employed at the University of Maine as an electrician, retiring in 1997 after 37 years of service. He enjoyed hunting. Franny was the life partner of Marie Roy.

In addition to Marie, he is survived by his son Lawrence Oakes (Kathleen Harkness), daughter Rose Oakes, daughter Muriel Oakes, daughter Marieta Call (Doug), son Francis "Judd" Oakes Jr. (Marisa), nieces and grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, and grandson.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate his life Friday, July 14, 2017, from 6-8 p.m. at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town.
