William Herbert Webb, 86, of Old Saybrook, CT passed away on September 22, 2019. He was born on January 11, 1933, in Hartford, the son of Eldorus Christian Webb and Thelma Leonard Webb. He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister and is survived by his brother Lawrence Webb of Deep River, CT. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing. Bill served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict on the USS Owen. He had a very successful career at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford as a General Supervisor. After he retired he worked for over fifteen years at Benny’s Department Store in Old Saybrook taking great pride in building bicycles. Bill loved Indian Town and served for many, many years as Harbor Master and as Vice-President on the Indian Town Association Board of Directors. He loved spending time with his family and close friends down at the docks, on his boat and around the dinner table. He transferred his love of the ocean, boating and fishing to his children and grandchildren. William is survived by his wife of 66 years, Cynthia Sugden Webb; children William H. Webb, Jr., James R. Webb, Lorra A. Webb, and Christopher D. Webb and his wife Robyn, all of Old Saybrook; 10 grandchildren; Peter Carey, Lizah (Carey) Ryczek, Emma and Anna Carey, Kelsey and William Christian Webb, William, Lucas, Sydney and Brooke Webb.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 26th, at 10:00 am in St. John Church, 161 Main St., and Old Saybrook. Burial with military honors will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Old Saybrook. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
