Steve was born in Bristol, CT on May 30th 1953, to father Robert and mother Louise Murphy. The youngest of three siblings. He attended and graduated Bristol Central High School. He then married his love, Patricia (Patty), in December 1971.
Steve had a rewarding career in the automotive industry that spanned more than 40 years. He had a successful history of building and coaching multiple sales teams. Steve started at Stephen World of Wheels and retired as a General Sales Manager with Parsons Chevrolet. Steve was well known in the industry for his compassion, honesty, and just how genuine he was to everyone who met him. Shortly after retirement he and his son Chris opened a successful car business in Wolcott, CT combining his two passions, family, and cars.
Steve loved his family, especially his grandkids. He enjoyed vacationing in Walt Disney World and road trips with his sister, Pat and husband, Rit. He could always be found in the garage tinkering around and was affectionately nicknamed “Mr. Fix-It” by his grandkids. He knew how to put a smile on everyone's face with his jokes and magic tricks. The holidays were extra special ranging from spooky Halloween decorations to his ever-growing Christmas village. He was famous amongst his grandkids for his fried dough, onion pizza, and unforgettable pasta and meatballs that had been passed down from generation to generation.
He was a fan of many sports, always watching NASCAR, the Yankees, and the Patriots. He could always be seen enjoying the outdoors from fishing, spending time on the beach, or just watching the thunderstorms roll by.
His presence of care, laughter, and lessons will be missed by many. Steve will be most remembered for how much he loved his family, grandchildren, and his dogs.
Steve is survived and dearly missed by his wife Patty and sons Stephen Jr. and wife Gretchen and their two children, Rylie and Nicholas of Old Saybrook, CT; Chris and wife Amy Lynn and their two children, Justin and Aiden of Old Saybrook, CT. His older sister, Pat, and husband, Rit Poinatale, of Terryville, CT. Along with nieces, nephews, and extended family.
