With much sadness we announce the passing of Robert Christian Frost, born May 9, 1940 to Marius and Ruth Frost of West Hartford, CT. Six years later, he was joined by his sister Maren, his very special friend. He was blessed with the wonderful cousins Sandra Caravello, Bill Slusser, and Holly Gadegard. They did their mischief together throughout their lives.
Robert married his beloved wife, Mary Gay Frost, December 19, 1973 and they were blessed to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this December.
With marriage they brought together their beautiful children: Robert Frost Jr., Lisa Taute (Donald), Armand “Chuck” Henault, and Marjorie Smith (Doug). This wonderful family filled the world with many delightful grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Shawn and wife Kara, Adam and wife Molly, Carolyn and husband Sal, Sam and wife Rachel, Major Jack Taute U.S. Space Force and wife Stacie, Samantha and fiancé Dave, Emma and fiancé Anderson, Elizabeth and C.J., Jillian and Sean, Ingrid and Ryan. Great grandchildren, Riley, Jason, Brody, Caydence, Jason, Sophia, Savannah and Silvio.
Robert lived a life to be proud of. He was a Patriot who loved his country; serving four years in the Air Force and 15 months in Taiwan Air Police guarding our planes with police dogs. Upon Robert’s return from Taiwan, he entered Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Apprentice Program where he honed his skills as a Master Craftsman. This led him to management at Ward Manufacturing where he retired at 47 years old.
Robert was a wise investor, thus helping him enjoy an exciting life with his wife, Mary. They played golf, and made wine together with Chuck and Lisa only to establish an extensive wine cellar. They customized their beautiful red Corvette. This car led him to be named “Lead Foot”, the laugh of the family. Later, Robert established an art for cooking and delighted everyone with his creativity. Robert and Mary enjoyed the casinos for 40+ years; they became accomplished Blackjack players and enjoyed eating in the most beautiful restaurants with the best cuisine and wines.
Lastly, Robert and Mary enjoyed their wonderful life with family at their beach home in Old Lyme and with their dearest friends, Robin and Phil Sarrantonio of Westbrook, CT.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful doctors, nurses, and caregivers from hospice for helping during Robert’s most difficult times.
A visitation for Robert will be held Monday, January 8, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook, CT 06475, followed by a funeral service in the chapel at 10:30 AM. Burial at Duck River Cemetery, Old Lyme, CT to immediately follow.
