away on October 20, 2021.
He was born on March 10, 1953, in New Britain, the son of Graham Arthur and Nancy
Graves Trask.
Michael was an avid New York Yankees fan and collected sports memorabilia for the
majority of his life. Mickey Mantle was his all-time favorite player, and in a wondrous act
of kismet, he passed from this world on Mantle’s birthday. Michael absolutely loved
sports and athletics; he played three sports in high school and very nearly became a
professional baseball and soccer player before shifting to more stable careers. Michael
never stopped loving and following his favorite teams, however, and he watched
SportsCenter every morning, knowing every bit of sports trivia anyone could imagine.
He worked as a chef for several years all over the country and retained these skills
throughout his life. Michael finally landed at General Dynamics Electric Boat for 35+
years in several departments. He eventually climbed the ladder to become a Senior Test
Engineer - often joking that he did this the “blue collar way” since he was the only one in
his department without a college degree in engineering. Post-retirement, Michael was
able to start an Etsy shop with his son-in-law, something that gave him great joy through
the end of his life.
Michael’s avid faith in Jesus Christ was the focus of his life. He identified as being Born
Again, and would tell anyone and everyone about who Jesus is and could be in their
lives. He attended Grace Episcopal Church in Old Saybrook, the same church his
parents attended throughout their adult lives, for over 30 years. He was married at
Grace in 1986 to the love of his life, his wife Mae. Michael was very active in the church,
serving in multiple capacities. He constantly studied Scripture; reading the Bible, daily
devotionals, and theology books; always seeking to grow closer to God, adhere to
God’s voice, and more deeply understand all of God’s mystery. Michael looked to God
for guidance in all things and remained close to God throughout the end of his life.
Michael is survived by his devoted wife Mae; the apple-of-his eye, his daughter Carly
Trask-Kuchta, along with her husband Kyle; his gift from God, grandson Hunter Michael
Trask-Kuchta; precious siblings Linda DuBois (Jon), Richard Trask (Kim), Joseph Trask
(Nancy), and Edward Trask (Erin); several nieces and nephews; and close friends.
