He was born in Clarksburg, MA in 1917. He was the son of Roland Henry and Edith Mary Booth Wright. He was proud to have received an Honorary High School Diploma from Drury High School in North Adams, MA in 2003. In 1939 he received his diploma in Building Construction from Wentworth Institute in Boston with Highest Honors in Scholarship and Character. He was also awarded the Alumni Medal at graduation.
He married, Eleanor Virginia Bray in S. Shaftsbury, VT, on February 10, 1940. They moved to Niantic in 1941. He worked at the Victory Yard at Electric Boat before serving in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II. After returning from Germany, he was a self-employed building contractor building many fine homes in the area.
He loved to spend time at his camp in Readsboro, VT where he enjoyed working in the woods cutting down trees to split for his wood stoves. He waited many years to see his first moose, and it did happen in 1996.
In 1944 he joined Bay View Lodge #120 of Masons in Niantic where he was a 67-year member. He served as Worshipful Master in 1953 and was named a Lifetime Member of Bay View in recognition of his designing and supervising construction of the current Masonic Temple on Society Road in Niantic. He was named Associate Grand Marshal of the 8th Masonic District B, served on the Board of Managers of the Masonic Home & Hospital in Wallingford for 7 years and was named a Board Member Emeritus when he left the board. He was awarded the Pierpont Edwards Medal in Bronze from the Grand Lodge of Connecticut in 1981. He served many years on the Vestry of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Niantic.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by their three children, Virginia(Richard) Romaine, Sheboygan Falls, WI, Roland W.(Diedre), Saratoga Springs, NY and Carolyn(Richard) Miller, East Lyme; his 5 grandchildren, William(Kim) Giesecke of Madison, WI, Charles Romaine of Sheboygan Falls, WI, Christopher Wright of Saratoga Springs, NY, Megan(Mark) Aubrey of Norwichtown, & Karen(Scott) Galbo of Niantic; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Richard, Scott and Ashleigh Galbo, Johnathan Giesecke, and Haleigh Miller.

A Memorial Service will be conducted Sunday, November 6 at 2 PM, at the Bay View Masonic Temple, Society Rd, Niantic. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Village Cemetery in Readsboro, VT, where he spent so many happy days at his camp.
