Patricia Ann Nelson

Patricia was born on June 6, 1933 in Port Chester, New York, the daughter of Charles E. Doran and Josephine Maher Doran. After graduating from the College of New Rochelle, she married Donald E. Nelson on September 27, 1958 in New London. They enjoyed 52 years of marriage until his death in 2010.

Patricia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be remembered for her kindness, loyalty and patience. She was a parishioner at St. Matthias Roman Catholic Church in East Lyme for over 50 years. She also worked in the East Lyme school system for many years, retiring as Head Teacher’s Aide of Lillie B. Haynes School in 1995. Patricia loved tending to her flowers in the spring and summer, NASCAR racing and reading. She was beloved by her family and will be dearly missed.

Patricia is survived by her five children, Jeffrey Nelson and his wife Patricia of Broad Brook, CT, Tracy Bartlett and husband Dave of Broad Brook, CT, David Nelson and his wife, Bonnie of Salisbury, NC, Christopher Nelson and his wife Susan of Salisbury, NC, and Mark Nelson and his wife Laura of Old Lyme, CT She is also survived by her ten grandchildren, Vicki, Katrina, Julia, Meagan, Lindsey, Griffin, Amanda, Hunter, Riley and Delaney, as well as six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Patricia is survived by her brother, Robert Doran and his wife Dotsie of Greenwich, CT, her sister-in-law, Anne Doran of Winchester, MA, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Joan Kadlick and her husband Martin Kadlick and her brother Charles Doran.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 11:00am in St. Matthias Church, 317 Chesterfield Rd., East Lyme, CT. Interment will follow in East Lyme Cemetery.
