Ronald is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ann Tippit Robinson of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; daughter, Lisa Robinson of Old Hickory, Tennessee; son, Mark Robinson (Heather) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; beloved grandson, Kyle Robinson (Crystal) of Lebanon, Tennessee; brothers Jerry Robinson (Marina Ann) of Hendersonville, Tennessee and Wendell Robinson (Wanda) of Columbia, Tennessee; brother-in-law, Tilden Tippit (Patti) of Fairhope, Alabama; sister-in-law, Judy Tippit of Jefferson City, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Tom Tippit of Jefferson City, Tennessee.
Ronald was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. Throughout his life, he attended the Green Street, Jackson Park, Vultee, Hermitage, and Mount Juliet congregations. He taught many Bible school classes and served as a deacon and elder at the Hermitage Church.
Ronald was born on 18 Keith Street in his grandparents’ home and lived there until age 6 when his parents moved to Inglewood, Tennessee. He attended James Lipscomb and Inglewood Elementary Schools and graduated in 1953 from Isaac Litton High School. Ronald served in the United States Army Reserve from 1954 until 1962.
When Ronald’s family moved to Elvira Avenue in Inglewood, he met his future bride, Ann. They married on September 18, 1954. During their marriage, they lived in Nashville, Donelson, and Hermitage, Tennessee.
As a teenager, Ronald worked at Logan’s Supermarket in Inglewood. In his high school senior year, he worked at Third National Bank through Litton’s Distributed Education program. At graduation, he took a full-time job with Third National and rose through the ranks to Senior Vice President of Tennessee Bank Operations. He spent three summers in Madison, Wisconsin at the University of Wisconsin’s School for Bank Administration and graduated in 1976 with a Bank Operations degree. He worked tirelessly during the 1980s to convert Tennessee banks impacted by the nationwide banking crisis into Third National’s systems.
After retiring from the bank in 1990, Ronald began his second career as an antique dealer. He loved traveling with Ann and friends or his brothers and their wives and shopping for antiques along the way, especially glassware, pottery, and clocks. He also spent many hours repairing clocks and was an avid clock collector. Ronald was always fascinated by his Cherokee heritage and loved to hunt for American Indian artifacts in the woods behind his house near the Cumberland River.
