Professionally, Mr. Dyer was a salesman with the Colonial Baking Company until his retirement. In his spare time, he was a published writer of shaped-note gospel music. In years past, he sang with a gospel quartet. Most recently, he sang with the choir from the Mount Juliet Senior Center taking music to area nursing homes each week.
Mr. Dyer has been a member of the Masons for seventy-five years. A man of many interests, he earned his private pilot’s license in his fifties. He was a Sunday School teacher for more than thirty years at the Gateway Missionary Baptist Church in Donelson, where he was a charter member. He was the last living member of the charter members of that church fellowship.
Mr. Dyer will be remembered as a kind-hearted gentleman. At the time of her passing, he had been married to his wife, Elizabeth, just one week prior to their seventy-first wedding anniversary. He was a loving, giving father. He loved well, was well-loved, and will be greatly missed.
Mr. Dyer is predeceased by his father, William Arnett Dyer; his mother, Sallie (Gregory) Dyer; two sisters and a brother. He is survived by his daughters Sherrie Wincek (Ron) and Barbara Davis; grandson, Keith Dickey (Tammy); granddaughter, Kelly Kavanagh (Mike); great granddaughter, Kelsi Estes (Chevy); and great grandson, Jared Dickey; sister Revayne Furniss and brother Colin (Jean) Dyer.
