Myra Ernestine Smith

Myra Ernestine Smith went to Jesus on Friday, October 11, 2024. She was surrounded by her devoted family and staff of Signature Healthcare of Erin. She leaves behind to mourn their loss her loving children, Charles Wayne Ligon (Jill) of Tennessee Ridge, Tennessee and Patricia Ann Prior of Dewey, Arizona. She was proceeded in death by her husbands, Charles Joseph Ligon, Cecil Jackson Smith, Sr. and her youngest son, Cecil Jackson Smith, Jr.

Left to treasure her memory are grandchildren: Joseph Leonard Ligon (Crissy), Tara Milliken Wiese (Jeffrey), Charles Rhett Ligon, James Russell Milliken, Frank Brittingham, Dawn Burr (Jeff), Christina Burgess (George), and Betsy Case. She also leaves thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, as well as precious nieces and nephews and extended family who are saddened by her death.

Ernestine was born in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee on April 12,1924. She lived and worked a simple life in Madison and Old Hickory, Tennessee as a secretary and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, doing puzzles, fishing, watching TV, and being with her family. She was kind to everyone she met and developed many lasting friendships.

Ernestine’s service, lead by Brother Dennis Kirk, will be held on Monday, October 21st at Hermitage Funeral Home, 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, Tennessee 37138 with burial to follow at Mt.Juliet Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Monday from 11:00 – 2:00 until the hour of service at 2:00. Pallbearers are family members Joe Ligon, Rhett Ligon, Zach Ligon, Jeffrey Wiese, Trevor Wiese, Roy Vaden, Charles Vaden, and Jay Garrett.

The hearts of her family request that memorial contributions be made to Signature Healthcare of Erin, 278 Rocky Hollow Road, Erin, Tennessee 37061, ACTIVITIES FUND ,in memory of Ernestine Smith.
