John Paul Jones, age 84, of Thompson’s Station, Tennessee, passed away on December 14, 2024 at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, Tennessee. He was born on May 13, 1940 in Red Boiling Springs, (Macon County) Tennessee to parents, William and Eva Jones.
John was a 1958 graduate of Red Boiling Springs High School. He joined the United States Air Force in 1961 and served as a Master Sergeant. He met the love of his life, Patricia Kathleen, in London, England, while on duty. They married on August 6, 1964 in Paddington, London. He retired from the Tennessee Air National Guard in 2000.
John loved traveling, and especially enjoyed touring the country in his RV. He also loved to play golf. He was a member of the Musik-Stadt Region Porsche Club of America. He enjoyed driving his Porsche Boxter on many fun weekend drives. He also loved spending time with his family; especially, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. John was a Christian and was baptized at Maple Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Lafayette, Tennessee.
John is preceded in death by his father, William Vasco Jones; his mother, Eva Delno Etheridge Jones; his loving wife, Patricia Kathleen Jones; brothers Harold Eugene Jones, Melvin Lee Jones, Jimmy Gray Jones, and Larry Wayne Jones; and sisters Eva Sandra Jones and Ruth Pearline Jones. He is survived by his son, Paul Jones (Tami); grandchildren Allison Wallace (Joey), Cassidy Griffin (Patrick) and Brendan Jones; great grandchildren Brynlee Griffin, Grayson Griffin, and Bennett Wallace; and sisters Henrietta Williams (Bobby), Rita Montgomery (Eddie), and Rhonda Keisling (Mike).
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends on Monday, December 23, at the Hermitage Funeral Home from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM. A Celebration of John’s Life will begin in the Tulip Grove Chapel at the funeral home at 2:00 PM with Dr. Judson Hays officiating. Mike Keisling, Rick Emerson, Patrick Griffin, Joey Wallace, Brendan Jones, and Jim Nelms will serve as pallbearers. Following the service, John will be laid to rest next to his loving wife in the mausoleum at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
