Mr. DeWitt served his country in the United States Army for thirty-nine years as a Helicopter Pilot and C-12 Commander.
Mr. DeWitt is predeceased by his father, Curtis Lawrence DeWitt; his mother, Ruby (Lane) DeWitt; a sister, Connie DeWitt; and his brother, Bob DeWitt.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Carolyn L. DeWitt; his son, Lance DeWitt (Becky); his daughter, Wendy DeWitt; grandsons, Wade DeWitt and Wyatt DeWitt (Casey Willis); his sister, Cindy Hulsey; and niece, Nicole Mattingly (Nick).
There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends on Thursday, May 4, from 4pm – 8pm and Friday, May 5, from 10am – 11am at Hermitage Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will begin at 11am on Friday, May 5, in the Tulip Grove Room at the funeral home. Following the service, Mr. DeWitt will be laid to rest in the mausoleum in the Garden of Memories at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to “Wounded Warriors” in memory of Jerry Lance DeWitt, Sr.
