J.B. Gammon, age 93 of Old Hickory, TN passed away Nov. 29, 2019. He was born to Wiley Cephas and Lola Jane (Kemp) Gammon in Macon County, TN who precedes him in death. Also preceding him in death is his son, Lawrence Dalton Gammon; sister, Delcie Evetts; brothers, Othel Gammon and Wiley C. Gammon, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 77 years, Eva Ruth (Knight) Gammon. They have resided in Old Hickory for over 65 years; daughter, Teresa Faye (Gammon) Prater and her husband Donald; son, Larry Wayne Gammon and his wife Liz (Whitely) Gammon; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Gammon; grandchildren, Laura Ward (Steve), Rachel Ball (Mike), Alli Morrow (James), Stephanie Fox (Harding), Brant Prater and wife Jessica and Lester Gammon; 6 great-grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter, several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Virgil Knight; sister-in-law, Anna Knight.
J.B. was a member of Old Hickory Church of Christ. He was previously an Elder and song leader for Old Hickory Blvd Church of Christ. He was also an Elder for 16 years at Hermitage Church of Christ. He worked for and retired from Sears.
A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 am Monday, December 2, 2019 at Hermitage Funeral Home, 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, TN with Bro. Don Loftis and Bro. August Ruff officiating. Interment will follow in Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Lester Gammon, Brant Prater, Harding Fox, Steve Ward, James Morrow and Michael Ball.
Visitation with the family will be 4:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Sunday, December 1, 2019 and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
