James C. Rollins

Mr. Rollins is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marlene; son, James Mitchell Rollins. grandchildren, Stephanie Lauren Rollins Burgess and Lucky (Murfreesboro, TN) and James Garrett Mitchell Rollins and Ashley (Cumberland City, TN); great grandson, James Edward Taylor Rollins; sister, Ritchie Jodway and Russell (Fenton, MI); brother, Baxter Rollins (White House, TN); and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Dee J. and Julia Mae Rollins; brothers William, Clyde, and J.D. Rollins; and sisters, Mary Orr and Syble West.

Mr. Rollins graduated from Cumberland High School, Nashville, in 1952. He was the class president and had annual reunions with all his classmates. He was a member of the Green Hill Church of Christ in Mount Juliet, TN. Jim served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed with the Nashville Electric Company from 1955 until he retired in 1990.

Mr. Rollins was an avid sportsman and loved golf and the game of bowling. Jim served on the Tennessee State Bowling Association Board of Directors since 1973 and was association manager for 21 years and a life member. He was a member of the Tennessee and Nashville Bowling Hall of Fame and was recognized for his contributions to the sport. In 2016, the United State Bowling Congress awarded him for 50 consecutive years of participation in the National Tournament. He loved his family and provided well for them. In addition, he enjoyed following the Titans, University of Tennessee and Vanderbilt sports teams.

Funeral service will be Thursday, 1pm, at Hermitage Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Darrell Blankenship, officiating. Garrett Rollins, Lucky Burgess, Tony Fawbush, Chip Rollins, Wayne Gregory, and Ron Young will serve as pallbearers. Following the service, entombment will be at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday, 3pm – 7pm, and Thursday, 11am – 1pm.
