H. Houston Hagar

HAGAR, H. Houston, died November 17, 2012. Preceded in death parents Emmett & Nova Hagar, 1st wife Gloria, brother, Ewell Hagar, Henderson Hagar, William Hagar; sister, Lucille Hall & Pauline Wells & step –son Matthew Shreeve. Survived by wife of 25 years Peggy S Hagar; sons, Ronald (Becky) Hagar & Larry (Cecilia) Hagar; daughter Sylvia (Fred) Hix; step sons Mike ( Jan), Terry (Dana), Tim (Amber), Todd (Erica) Shreeve, and numerous grandchildren & great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Boner, Frances Bruce, Louise Davis, Hilda Barnes; brother, John Hagar. He was a graduate of Nashville School of Law, practicing Law Institute, National college of Juvenile and Family Law. Mr. Hagar worked as a claims attorney for 34 years with USF&G and Alexander & Alexander, living in Nashville, Chattanooga, Dallas and Little rock with USF & G. He was Juvenile and Night court Judge for 12 years with Metro Nashville, retiring in 2004 and practicing civil law since 1990. He was a member of the Nashville Bar for over 50 years. Former member of Nashville Kiwanis Club and Donelson Hermitage Chamber of Commerce, He was a Metro Councilman for 10 years from 1979 to 1989, a member and former deacon of New Hope Baptist Church where he taught an adult class for 17 years & was a Army Veteran of WWII. Funeral Services will be held at 3 pm on Monday, November 19, 2012 with Rev. Steve Atwood officiating interment to follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Ronald & Larry Hagar, Fred Hix, Terry, Todd, Tim & Mike Shreeve. Visitation with family will be Sunday, November 18, 2012 form 4 – 8 pm and 2 hours prior to service on Monday at Hermitage Funeral Home 889-0361
