Cory became a Christian and was baptized in 1991 at the Belle Aire Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He played soccer for Oakland High School in Murfreesboro and graduated – Class of 1996. Following graduation, he pursued an Associate’s Degree from Nashville Technical College (now, Nashville State Community College).
Cory had an eclectic taste for music. One could never predict the next song on any of his playlists as he jumped from genre to genre with great appreciation. He was a quiet man and enjoyed his time at home. When he was not at work, he enjoyed watching television with his boys. He also had a passion for science-fiction and was a big fan of any shows starting with “Star” (Star Wars, Star Trek, and Stargate).
Cory is survived by his two sons, Anthony Jarod Smith, and Jakob Thomas Smith; his mother, Gina Smith; and his father, Jack Smith (Kathy). He also leaves behind a large extended family.
