HARE, Betty Lynn Fulton Age 64 of Nashville, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of June 19, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Lyle H. Fulton and Eva Christine Spangler Fulton and was born on May 28, 1949. She graduated from East High School in 1967. She continued her education at MTSU graduating Cum Laude in 1985 with her B.S. in Elementary Education and her M.Ed. from Vanderbilt University's Peabody College in 1994. She married the love of her life James "Jim" Milton Hare on June 17, 1968. They spent 45 happy years together in their hometown of Nashville, TN. Betty's teaching career spanned 28 years beginning at Cole Elementary, continuing at Una Elementary and ending at Dupont Elementary with her retirement in 2011. She was known for recognizing the potential in all of her students and teaching to their strengths. She was teacher of the year at UNA Elementary. She was Governor of Tennessee Girls State in 1966. She ran for the Nashville City Council in 1979, losing by a narrow margin. She was a true public servant and her children followed in her footsteps by her remarkable example. Betty was a longtime member of West End United Methodist Church where she found God in the still places. Her greatest joy was being with her family and wide circle of friends. Her home was open to any and all who needed a listening ear or a good meal. She enjoyed traveling, especially following her retirement, particularly enjoying cruise ships and quiet beaches. She was the proud mother of two and grandmother to six of the most loved grandchildren anywhere. Betty is survived by two children, Becky Hare Adams of Nashville Tennessee and James "Keith" Hare of Richmond, Virginia and their spouses Michael Adams and Emily Hare; grandchildren, Ryan, Emily and Megan Adams of Nashville, TN and Charlotte, Ava and Lyle Hare of Richmond, VA; her sister, Debra Shuler of Hendersonville, TN; brother, Brooks Moore of Dexter, OR; sister-in-law, Ann Lashlee of Hermitage, TN; nephew, Richard Douglas and niece, Beth Douglas Kelly. Betty was predeceased by her mother, Christine Spangler Fulton and father, Lyle H. Fulton. Visitation will take place on Friday, June 21 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hermitage Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. A funeral service will be held on June 22nd at 10 a.m. at West End United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends before the service at 9 a.m. Following the funeral, graveside services will take place at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home and Memorial Park. Those serving as Pallbearers will be Bill Davis, Jim Eads, David Mitchell, Tom Mitchell, Jim Nease, Bill Rawls, Jim Wilson and Matt Wilson.
