Anna Lou Powell, age 98, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023, peacefully at her home surrounded by family. Anna was born September 10, 1925, in Moore City, Tennessee to Clarence and Nancy Davis. She was the fourth of eleven children and spent her youth and early years in Shelbyville, Tennessee.
Anna meet Edward in 1943 at a dinner in Shelbyville. They were married in 1944 on one of Edwards military leaves before he was shipped overseas. When he returned, they spent the next 20 years serving the military in Guam, Alaska, and Bermuda. In 1955 he was stationed at the airbase in Smyrna, TN where they decided to put down their roots in Donelson. There they raised their three children. After 50 years of marriage, Edward passed and Anna moved to Mt Juliet to live with her daughter, Nancy.
Anna spent time working for Nortel as a tester, but mostly was a homemaker raising her family in Donelson. She loved to host holidays and special occasions for her family. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Edward, daughter Patricia Powell Haskins, and grandson David Allen Williams.
Anna is survived by her daughter, Nancy Pope, and son, Michael Edward Powell, her sister, Nancy Ruth Travis and 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren.
A visitation for Anna will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and again from 10:00-until time of service at the Hermitage Funeral Home, 535 Shute Ln, Old Hickory, TN. A celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00AM followed by interment at the Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
