Steven “Mad Dog” Mark Steckenrider, 66, of Olathe, Kansas passed away at home on Wednesday, August 29, 2018. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to everyone he met. Steven was born on February 11, 1952 in Bethesda, Maryland to Max Edward and Vera Janet (Harris) Steckenrider.
Steven attended and graduated from Olathe North High School. He served his country honorable in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. “Mad Dog” as he was known by his friends, enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed watching KU Basketball, The Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs. Steven worked as a carpenter all his life before retiring. Nothing gave him more pleasure in life then to spend time with his family, friends and especially his two grandchildren Steven Max and Cynthia Lee. He will be sadly missed.
Steven is preceded in death by his parents, Max and Vera Steckenrider. He is survived by his loving companion, Terresa Steckenrider and his son, Justin Ryan Steckenrider and his wife Kathy of Olathe, Kansas. Left behind to cherish his memory are his two grandchildren, Steven Max Steckenrider and Cynthia Lee Steckenrider. Steven is also survived by his sister, Nancy Rostock and her husband Ted of Leawood, Kansas.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 10, 2018 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas. Burial with full Military Honors in Olathe Memorial Cemetery 738 North Chestnut Street Olathe, Kansas 66061. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Memorial contribution may be made to: American Legion Post 153 410 Dennis Ave. Olathe, Kansas 66061.
