Shannon Margaret (Sullivan) Schauf, 93, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 11, 2024. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to everyone she knew.
Shannon was born on November 6, 1930 in Sioux City, Iowa. Her parents Dr. Charles and Celeste (Kelley) Sullivan loved her unconditionally. She attended and graduated from St. Angela’s Academy in Carroll, Iowa, followed by her employment at a local bank.
She married USAF Lt. James R. Schauf on October 23, 1954 in St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll, Iowa. Together they raised their five children, Debbie, Kim, James Jr., Mary and Tim. Shannon served her family with love and affection. Nothing gave her more pleasure in life than the time she spent with her grandchildren. Shannon enjoyed working in her flower garden, singing in the church choir and playing her violin. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband James on their TWA passes.
Her parents precede Shannon in death. She is survived by her husband of seventy years James R. Schauf Sr. She will be sadly missed by her five children Debora Smith and her husband Bob of Louisville, Colorado, Kimberly Lynch and her husband Tai of Alpharetta, Georgia, Rick Schauf Jr. and his wife Sue of Olathe, Kansas, Mary Perez and her husband Dan of Lenexa, Kansas and Tim Schauf and his wife Terri of Fort Worth, Texas. Left behind to cherish her memory are her nine grandchildren Ben Smith, Megan Piland (Josh), Nicole Boozer (John), Kelly Hawk (Matt), Christopher Lynch, Kyle Perez (Jessica), Lauren Lisbon (Jonathan), William Schauf and Natalie Schauf. Shannon is also survived by her nine great grandchildren Rhys Piland, Lucas and Cooper Boozer, Isla, Elodie and Hallie Perez, Henderson, Graham and Lawson Lisbon.
Shannon will be cremated according to her wishes. A “Celebration of Life” Memorial Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Friday morning, August 30, 2024 at Cure of Ars Catholic Church 9401 Mission Road Leawood, Kansas. Inurnment in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum 8321 Quivira Road Lenexa, Kansas. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. prior to the memorial Mass at the church. The Rosary will be prayed starting at 10:45 a.m.
