Roubidoux “Chief” Dean Foster, 88, of Olathe, Kansas passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, February 17, 2019. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. “Chief” as he was known by his friends was born on September 15, 1930 in Rulo, Nebraska to Vincent Lee and Irene Nola (Kent) Foster. He attended Haskell Trade School in Lawrence, Kansas and was on their track team.
Roubidoux worked for the City of Olathe for 40 years in the Streets Department. He enjoyed fishing, camping and playing his guitar. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Nothing gave him more pleasure than the time he spent with his grandchildren. Everyone who knew him loved him. He was a happy man with an easy laugh who was always willing to help anyone.
Roubidoux is preceded in death by his parents, his oldest son, Anthony “Tony” Foster, and siblings “Buck”, Conrad, Vince, Chuck, L. Lucille, “Johnny”, and Burdina.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Helen L. (Simpson) Foster of the home, two sons, Markas Foster of Olathe, Kansas and Joseph Foster and his wife Melinda of Bucyrus, Kansas. Left behind to cherish his memory are his four grandchildren, Tausha Foster, Amanda Foster and her husband Luke, Troy Foster and Chrissy Foster. He has four great grandsons and a great granddaughter on the way.
Roubidoux is also survived by his brother, Jim Foster and his wife Shirley of White Cloud, Kansas and two sisters, Gaile Reed and Verina Cisneros and her husband David, both of White Cloud, Kansas. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, Febuary 23, 2019 at the Westview Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1113 S Ridgeview Rd, Olathe Kansas 66062. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Watchtower Bible & Tract Society of New York, Inc. Attn: Accounting, 900 Red Mills Rd, Wallkill New York 12589-5200 or at jw.org. Burial will be at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in Severance, Kansas
