Paul Joseph Seuferling passed away November 26, 2018 in Olathe, Kansas. Born in Louisburg, Kansas on July 28,1937, he was the youngest son of John and Cecilia (Spielbush) Seuferling. As a youth, Paul attended Snake Den Elementary School, a one-room schoolhouse outside of Louisburg. After graduating from Louisburg High School, he served his country in the United States Army, doing a tour of duty that included being stationed in Germany for two years. Paul was a hard worker and in his early years found success selling cars at a Ford dealership, working on the railroad in Kansas City, Kansas and delivering the Kansas City Star through the Gates Trucking Company. This led to a career spanning over thirty years at Roadway Express, Inc. where he started as a driver and then climbed the ladder to become Terminal Manager. He enjoyed the work and found great fulfillment training up and coming managers.
In 1957, Paul married Doris F. Rutledge. They were married for fifty years, making their home in Kansas City, Overland Park, and then Lawrence, Kansas before eventually settling in Olathe in 1983. Paul was a devout Catholic and was a member of the American Legion and The Elks Lodge. He was also a volunteer Boy Scout leader while both sons participated in Scouting. He enjoyed family camping, fishing, playing
golf and helping others. He will be remembered fondly for many things, especially his “ornery” sense of humor and avid storytelling. Paul was preceded in death by his wife Doris. He is survived by his two sons: Joseph Lee Seuferling and his spouse Susan DuMett of Seattle, Washington and James Arthur Seuferling and his wife Mary Jo of Houston, Texas, grandson Maxwell, and friend and dear companion in recent years Barbara Binger.
