Marlene worked at Children’s Mercy Hospital Hemoc Clinic at the front desk for many years. During her time there, she cared for and helped many children and their families during very difficult times. She always had plenty of smiles, hugs
And love for everyone she met.
For the last 4 years, she served as a security monitor at Smith-Hale Middle School with HMC-1. Here she cared for many children that passed by her desk every morning. Marlene always made the time to listen to whatever they had to say and provide guidance when needed.
Marlene loved antiquing, interior decorating, landscaping as well as cooking. She not only cooked for herself but for friends and family. Some of her signature dishes were mac and cheese, salmon croquettes, potato salad, sweet potatoes, cornbread, fried chicken and yes, naked cake.
She loved music in particular Angela Winbush, Michael Cooper and Luther Vandross just to name a few. She enjoyed hearing her son Kenny a.k.a. DJ K-Hamma perform at various venues in the City. She also loved to dance in particular 2 steppin.
Her favorite colors were purple and gold. Her joyous laugh was not soon forgotten.
Marlene was a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin, friend and so much more. She touched every heart that crossed her path and was a shining light to all who knew her.
