After Margaret graduated from Washington High School in KCK, she attended Emporia State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Education, almost attaining a Master’s degree.
While she was in college also served as music director for several USO shows which toured the far East, while being involved with numerous choral activities. After college, she was a teacher in the Olathe School district at Oregon Trail Middle School. She later moved to New York City where she held a music director position in 2 large Catholic Churches. In addition, she was a program developer at the Kaufman music center, sang opera, taught music in Catholic schools, held many seasonal programs with huge productions, and played the pipe organ at many funeral services and churches throughout New York. The last position she held was as a business administrator and music director at the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
Some of her favorite pastimes include boating, cooking, fishing, time with family and spending time at her cabin at The Lake of The Ozarks. She also loved riding motorcycles, collecting glassware and playing the piano and organ.
Margaret was preceded in death by her grandparents, Emery and Nellie Grace Evans, and Elza and Margaret Sweat; her parents Rev. Christopher A. Evans and Margarette Maxine Evans; brothers-in-law Thomas Rowe and Ken Crowl and; nephew, Mike Dutcher. She is survived by her siblings, Cheryl Robertson (Roger) of Shawnee, KS, Janet Crowl of Topeka, KS and Christopher Dale Evans (Jenice) of Blairstown, MO; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life Reception will be July 9 from 1-3pm at DeSoto Baptist Church in DeSoto, KS.
