Leo Daniel Hibdon (L.D., Leo, Unkie, Crippled Cowboy, Grandpa) was born May 11, 1939; he earned his wings into heaven on January 15, 2021. Most of his life was spent either in Olathe or Spring Hill, KS.
He was a master craftsman of many talents, but most of all he just liked to tinker. He most enjoyed just being outside and telling everyone about his girls' passion and success with horses.
He retired in the fall of 1999 from GM-Delco where he worked for nearly 40-years. Chances are if you worked there you had a nickname, and it was most likely generated by Leo. His Delco handle was “Crippled Cowboy”.
He is preceded in death by many loving family members and he leaves behind his wife Nadine (Olathe, KS.), his daughter Kim (Spring Hill. KS), His brother Don Hibdon (Versailles, MO), his favorite Brother-in-Law Curtis Allenbrand (Olathe, KS), and his favorite Uncle, Martin Mower (Wellsville, KS)., along with countless other family members, including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, co-workers, neighbors, but especially his horse show and church friends and family. And oh so many will remember him as their larger than life surrogate Grandpa.
He lived a life that was positive and meaningful. He was a man of great faith with an incredible sense of humor. He never met a stranger. He leaves us with so many great memories and stories. He was famous for his signature smile, warm and inviting handshake, gigantic bear hugs, a quip of humor, or you might just get one of his snappy quotes.
"If you don't like fish and don't drink beer, you aint' a Hibdon." Cheers Leo, until we meet again.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
