Kyle Joseph Fritze, 23, died March 26, 2016 in his home in Olathe due to complications from a childhood illness. Kyle was born April 14, 1992 in Olathe, Kansas to Vickie and Joe Fritze and he is the younger of two siblings.
When a person leaves us at a young age, the focus tends to remain on what they have missed out on, however Kyle wouldn’t want that. If he was always one thing, it was excited. He was excited for every new opportunity, and wouldn’t want his loved ones to forget what he had achieved throughout his short time with us.
Kyle suffered from severe Chrons for the majority of his teenage years, but he tried his best to never let it get in his way. He was the front man for several bands, and had learned to play guitar, bass, bass guitar, and piano by the time he reached adulthood. His interests were not only in music, however. Kyle loved learning languages and exploring other cultures. In high school and college, he studied German and Italian, traveled through Europe and later spent several months in Venice, Italy. He was also an avid gamer, connecting with people across the globe on Steam, Xbox and PS4, and he had also studied game design and developed several small PC games. He worked at Starbucks for several years, and had essentially become a coffee connoisseur though his job – often making lattes and cappuccinos at home for his family. Kyle was also an unabashed nerd. He had a great love for all things sci-fi – Doctor Who, Star Trek, Star Wars, Firefly – anything. Since 2012 he had made a yearly trek to Planet Comicon, and had the opportunity to see a Star Trek panel from the cast of Next Generation. In August of 2014, he visited the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando with his mother and sister, where he got to go through the entire experience of having his wand choose him – two experiences that always stuck with him. Later in 2015, he had the experience of a lifetime when he got to see the KC Royals in action at the World Series.
Kyle is survived by his mother Vickie, father Joe, sister Lindley, and faithful dog Elvis as well as a large extended family who will all miss him dearly. He was an incredibly strong person and an asset to all who had the opportunity to know him. Although he left us far too early, he had a full and exciting life – something that should not be forgotten.
Kyle will be cremated according to his wishes. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 2nd at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas. Visitation 6:00p.m. - 8:00p.m. Friday, April 1st at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: The Chron’s and Colitis Foundation of America.
