Gloria Maxine Cullison Price, 79, of Olathe, KS passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023. She was born June 28, 1943, in Garnett, KS to Uhel Cullison and Maxine Gates-Cullison. On December 19, 1959, she married James (Jim) Price in Leavenworth, KS.
She spent much of her life as a proud homemaker and, as her husband called her, a "telephone company trooper" - managing the family's many moves between Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and Arkansas due to Jim's job. She also spent more than 10 years working for the Johnson County Election Office.
Known lovingly as "Mam" and "Mickey" by family, Gloria's favorite role was devoted mother, grandmother and aunt. She enthusiastically attended every recital, concert, play, graduation, and game, where she could often be heard cheering for her kids (or arguing with the referees).
She was also an accomplished gardener, seamstress, cook and baker - gifts she often used in service to others. She was never one to show up to a party emptyhanded and always said yes when asked for a favor, whether it was for a birthday cake, Halloween costume or even a wedding dress. Her distinctive laugh and warm hugs, though, brought the most joy to those around her.
Active in her community, Gloria was a former member of Beta Signa Phi sorority and Firstlight United Methodist Church, and in recent years participated in a regular Bible study with a small group of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Uhel Cullison and Maxine-GatesCullison, her sisters, Linda Jean Cullison and Rosmary Cullison-Katzer, and her daughter, Debra Price.
Gloria is survived by her husband, Jim; son Rodney and wife Tracy of Gardner, KS; grandchildren Taylor Lintz Chaney and husband Justin of Lawrence, KS; Carley Lintz of Chicago, IL and Connor Price of Smithville, MO; great-grandchildren Layla Baker and Stella Chaney of Lawrence, KS; sister Cheryl Cullison-Miller and husband George of Greeley, KS; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation for Gloria will be held Thursday, May 11 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 E. Loula Street, Olathe, KS 66061. A memorial service will occur Friday, May 12 from 10:00 AM to 11 :00 AM at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Tunnels 2 Towers Foundation.
