Geraldine Anderson, 90, of Bucyrus, KS, passed away Saturday, January 29th 2011 at Olathe Medical Center. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., Friday, February 4, 2011 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with burial in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens.
Geraldine was born to Charles and Okla Johnston on March 24th, 1920, in Cushing, Oklahoma. She met her husband Larry Anderson during WWII where she worked as a secretary for the government. She and her husband resided in many states prior to moving to Lenexa, Kansas in 1972. In November 2006, she moved into her daughter, Lisa Harshman‘s home in Bucyrus, KS, until her passing. Gerry was an active member for the Heart of America Samoyed Club and the Monticello Historical Society for many years. She enjoyed collecting antiques, playing bridge with her friends, breeding and showing Samoyeds and spinning Samoyed hair into yarn for knitting beautiful items.
Gerry was preceded in death by her beloved husband Larry Anderson, her son Jeffrey Anderson and her sister Emogene Wastilchick.
She is survived by her sisters, Linda Katib (OK) and Virginia Credicott (TX); her daughter Lisa Harshman, Bucyrus, KS; granddaughters, Jessica Armstrong, Bucyrus, KS and Amanda Honsinger, Stilwell, KS and five great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all those blessed with the opportunity of knowing her.
