I worked with Carol at Derby (KS) Public Library during the years before she moved to Leavenworth.  Carol used to borrow pet store animals to bring to the children's story time. This is how I met the cocker spaniel puppy who became my dog. It was because of Carol, too, that I became aware of Derby Community Theatre, leading to my husband's longtime intense involvement with that group. Carol and I kept in touch a couple of times a year after she left Derby, but I only recently learned of her passing. I enjoyed her friendship and her sense of humor. My family and I still use some of her "Carolism" funny phrases.

I met Carol when we were both teaching at Muncie.  We discovered a mutual love of mystery books and several of us made field trips to the mystery bookstore in Lawrence.  Will never forget her sense of humor, she was always wonderful to be around and will be missed.

Ms. Carol was one of the people I looked up to.  I knew her since I was 9 years old and she was one of the best and brightest people I've ever known.  She was great with little kids and even better with hooligans like me.  She could always make me laugh, even when I was down.  Working with her as a volunteer was a pleasure, and I don't think that the library will be the same without her.  I could talk to her about anything and everything.  With her gone, we have lost one of the brightest lights that has shone.

I was very sorry and shocked to hear of Carol's death.  I met Carol through Ruth Martin.  Ruth, Carol, and I spent the morning and lunch together at my garage sale the day before her death.  It was a lovely day to be outside.  Carol enjoyed playing with little Graysen and my daughter's new puppy, singing silly songs, and visiting.  She was a joy to be around.  She will be sadly missed.  My deepest condolences.

Carol and I began library school at the same time.  She was with me in Emporia when the odometer on my Gran Torino reached 100,000 miles.  Carol had the ability to turn any moment into a grand occasion.  Over the years, we encountered one another here and there. These past few years, it has been my pleasure to work with her in Leavenworth.  Carol was amazingly creative and a treasure trove of trivia and lore--from old movies to historic anecdotes to classic books.  I marveled how she knew so much!  Carol touched the lives of so many children--and all of us.  She is too soon gone.  We will miss her; we will always remember the joy she brought us.

I worked with Carol when she taught 5th grade at Salt Creek Valley in Easton, KS school district.  Carol was a funny, full of energy, hard working teacher.  She was one of those people you enjoyed being around. 
I visited with her a couple of weeks ago at the Leavenworth library and she was still spunky and full of life.  She will be missed.

I worked with Carol at the Leavenworth Public Library. She loved the chidren she  helped and they loved her. Children would often look for Ms. Carol when they came into the library. She would always take the time to listen to their stories and have a kind word to say to them. She will always be remembered for her sense of humor. Her humor could brighten a day. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences. Carol was my co-worker, and was one of the funniest people I ever met.  She could turn a bad day into a great one.  I loved to hear her sing with the slightest encouragement. She loved cowboys, firemen, and life. The library will not be quite as bright without her upbeat presence. However, the glow from our memories of her will help to keep us going, and serving the public that she loved.

Ms Carol will be sadly missed by the whole community of children that she taught to love reading.  She was always there to hug the child and to guide them to the right aisle to the book they wanted.  My son, Brian has volunteered at the library for several years and continues to go down there.  He was so sad when he heard the news about Ms Carol.  It was not only a mentor we lost but a neighbor.  I will miss seeing her white Bug with black top going down our street.  She will definitely be amoung the Angels in God's world.  She never met a stranger.  God Bless you for letting us share her on earth.  We need more like her.

I had the pleasure of working with Carol at Muncie Elementary.  Carol was witty, and funny.  Quite the personality :).  She will be missed by many. May God bless her family and friends with comfort and peace.

I knew Carol as my daughter Samantha used to come and volunteer at the Leavenworth Library since she was 11. She enjoyed it very much, because of Tita and especially Carol. She so enjoyed Samantha working there and made every one whom came in whether you were just getting a book to read or dropping off my daughter to volunteer. She was fun and put her heart into what she did at the library. She will be greatly missed by Samantha and I. We wish your family well during this time of sorrow. Carol was such a joy to be around.  I first met her at David Brewer School and then had the pleasure of working with her again during our summer program at the Y.  She always made the activities for our school aged children special and they really looked forward to the experiences she planned for them.  Her love and enthusiasm for kids was so very evident. I will truly miss her.

I will miss Carol and her songs.  She always brightened my day & made the world happier.  She was a loving, talented, special person that will be missed by the many lives she touched.

I was so sad to hear of Carol's passing.  I worked with her at Nettie Hartnett.  Then I was pleased to take my toddler to the public library to find her there continuing to spread her love of books.  Carol could always tell you the perfect book to go with a lesson, she could always direct a child to what was just right for him/her and she always made me laugh with her witty remarks.  Carol will be missed, rest with the angels, dear friend.

I loved working with Carol at the library.  Just knowing she would be at work with me made me smile. She could always make me laugh even on a bad day.  She was a great friend, too.  If I was upset about something she was always there to listen.  She would always offer words of encouragement and some much needed humor to lift my spirits.  I miss her!

Our Library GandCare reading group was too quiet today without Ms. Carol. We will carry on because she would like it that way. She is greatly missed by the senior citizens readers,teachers and the pre-school children. What fun we have had with her!

I worked with Carol at the Leavenworth Public Library.  However, Carol was so much more than a wonderful co-worker; she was also a great friend.  I'll really miss her fantastic sense of humor and the wise advise she gave me.  We laughed so much together -sometimes at how absurd life and people could be.

Carol will always be remembered for her sense of humor.  She is leaving a big hole in the hearts of many.

I enjoyed working with Carol at Nettie Hartnett School.  She was the librarian then.  We had LOTS of laughs together! Her sense of humor was one of a kind!   I will miss her!

Carol Spencer was a special person that will be missed by the children and parents she served as well as her coworkers. Children would often come running into the library asking to see Ms. Carol.  They were always ready to tell her about their new toy or asking Ms. Carol what she will read about on a particular week. Her witty sense of humor was enjoyed by many including myself.
